Lincoln City to Redwood National Park

Hmmm... Long day, lots of beautiful sights, but mostly just driving. I was in a hurry to finally be done with the Oregon coast. It was beautiful, but I had to stop stopping all the time. If I stopped at every scenic overlook, I'd still be there next week! So, I made a few stops (some lighthouses, some dunes), but then made a bee-line for California.

I hit California before I expected to, so I didn't get a picture of the sign. I headed straight to Redwoods national and State Parks and got a campsite at Mill Creek campground. This was definitely the coolest campsite I'd ever stayed at! Check out the pictures below. After I checked in I went back in to Crescent City and ate at one of many "authentic" Mexican restaurants. It was really good, and seemed quite authentic, but who am I to know? After that I cruised around the city for a bit, checking things out. It's not the prettiest city I've ever seen, but it has it's nice points, such as Crescent Beach and the Battery Point Lighthouse. I stopped at the vista point heading back into the park and watched the sun set over the ocean... spectacular! I wish I had been able to capture it better on film, but, alas, I have a point and shoot.

Then I went to bed as I was tired.

Yaquina Head Lighthouse

Me near the Hecita Head Lighthouse

This was in the car next to me at the Mexican restaurant... scared the shit out of me. How could anyone love that?

Me at my very rustic (and slug-infested, it seems) campsite

The sun setting over Crescent City. I wish I could have zoomed more.
