Moyie Lake to Millersylvania State Park

First night of camping alone went remarkably well. The tent is really really easy to put up, and I really like it. I also wasn't scared for a moment... I think the hatchet at my side makes me feel pretty secure. I was up at 7:00, went for a run, took advantage of the free shower, had some breakfast and was out of there by 9:00.

I had absolutely no trouble with the border crossing... fools! If they only knew how much crack I was smuggling! I may look cute and innocent, but, in actuality, I make Tony Montegna look like an angel! Mwah hahaha!

Anyway... Not much else happened until I almost ran out of gas for the first time that day. I discovered that I can drive for at least 10 km after the gas light comes on without running out. Good to know.

I stopped at a cute little cafe for lunch in Priest River and had the best sandwich I've had in ages. It was chicken salad with walnut and apple, on toasted raisin bread! Oh, my, god! Fan-fugo-tastic. Good enough to write about I'd say.

From there I pushed on past Seattle (almost running out of gas again... I've really gotta start keeping on top of these things!) I took a detour around the city as it was rush-hour, and ended up at a fruit stand. I had forgotten how great fresh produce was! Raspberries, cherries, tomatoes, peaches and corn. And the girl there gave me good advice for a place to camp for the night.

I ended up at Millersylvania State Park, just SE of Olympia. It was a cute little park with a lake and a beautiful campground. On the way to the park, I stopped for ice at this little place advertising fire wood. I went in and discovered that it was actually the local tavern. They didn't have ice, but they did have a "band" playing.
1 man
+ 1 guitar
+ 1 amp
+ 1 woman
+ 1 microphone
+ 1 very small town tavern
= pretty funny stuff!

I wasn't sure how to pay for the site, and didn't figure it out until this morning. Nobody approached me for paying, and I could have left for free, but I figured that I'd keep Karma on my side and I paid anyway. Hope it pays off!

Animals seen: 5 deer, 2 of which were dead (legs sticking straight up in the air)
2 bald eagles

One of the deer (not a dead one)
