Blogaversary

Today is the one year anniversary of my blog. It has definitely seen some good times (my "Cruise America") and bad (all the depression). It pretty much documented the "year of shit", although during the worst of it I was usually unable to write.

In an amazing coincidence, I had a doctor's appointment this morning to discuss getting off my anti-depressants. Given the chance to do it all over again I would, I really like the person who came out the other side of this. Actually, I'm just realizing this as I write, I've never liked myself before, and now I finally do! What a difference a year makes!

A New Look

I've been invited to upgrade to the new Blogger so there are a few changes on here. I'll probably be fiddling around with the new features for a while so bear with me. Also, let me know if I've changed something you really like. I'm going to experiment with colours and shit.

The archive will still be available, but it's a drop-down menu now, much more attractive and efficient if you ask me. Also, they let me add labels to my posts now which you can click on to find other posts with the same label. For instance, if you want to see all my posts with pictures, click on the pictures label below a post and it will bring up all those posts I've labeled with pictures. It's going to take a while for me to finish labeling everything, but it'll be pretty handy when I get it done.

Uhhhh...

So I continued reading about Type 7's (see post below) and I'm absolutely amazed. Looks like I am a textbook Type 7. And I'm learning that I may be as fucked up as I thought I was. To see it all in print like that is quite astounding, certainly makes me sit back and think about the absurd patterns I've been repeating. Apparently this is how I fix it:

I'm an Enthusiast

I've been doing a lot of soul searching lately. I'm sitting here (still) with the world in the palm of my hands and I have absolutely no idea what to do with it. It's like a hot potato and I'm juggling it around, holding onto an idea until it gets too hot and then switching it again.

In my search for what the hell to do, I've been taking some online career counseling tests and personality tests. I just did this one that describes me to a T. Thought I'd share it with everyone so you can be as amused as I am about how accurate it is. I have highlighted those that are particularly fitting.

An Interesting Coincidence

My mom and I have both been frequenting a cool website called foundmagazine.com. She called me a couple of days ago to tell me to go on there and check out the "find of the day."



Well, my friends, it's funny 'cause it's true! I have a neighbourhood bum (pun intended) who leaves me a little deposit every few weeks. There is a nice discreet space between my car and the dumpster, which apparently is prime pooping real estate. In fact, I found a steaming pile today! Sadly, I've gotten quite used to it and just shrug it off now.

The sign is so accurate that I'm thinking of printing it off unaltered and posting it on the dumpster. The river is actually more like 4 blocks away, but that's just a technicality.

On a further amusing note, apparently the sign was found in Santa Cruz! I can vividly picture the river, and someone pooping into it.

And the Winner Is...

For two reasons, my sister is the winner of the "Name that Car" contest. The first, and most important, reason is that it is a great name with a fitting story. Second, she is the only one to actually submit her suggestion. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Slackers!" Anyway, here is the winning entry, I love it!

Okay, here is my is suggestion. I was doing a search for names and was typing in anything that might give me some inspiration. I was looking up Black stallion, Black Panther....Black anything. Anyway, upon my Black Diamond search I came upon a website for the town of Black Diamond. I thought I had heard of this town and then it dawned on me that is where Omar bit the dust. So I peeked through the site and saw the names of the town councilors. The mayors name is Rolly Magee. I loved this name and couldn't get it out of my head. Hence, my name suggestion for your new car is Rolly Magee. Hope you like.

So there you have it, my new car's name is Rolly Magee. As for the special prize I was promising, it is the everlasting love of a sister (which she was getting anyway) and one free night of babysitting if she ever gets that family of hers out here for a visit!

Such a Beautiful Revolution

I've been reading a blog called A Beautiful Revolution that I "stumbled-upon" recently, and it's lovely. It's a guy in England named Andre who has battled depression and come through quite nicely, it appears. His blog is a really cool mix of: beautiful photos with brilliant colours and interesting subjects; self-made postcards which are often quite witty; thought-provoking to downright humorous doodles; love stories, and generic blog-stuff. I can't quite decide which aspect is my favorite, but I'm leaning towards the love stories... it's nice to see that someone takes note of how wonderful the people around them can be. Anyway, he directed a doodle to his Canadian fans today and it made me smile, so here it is:

Apple Blossom Festival

The official invitation has been sent, and the official website has be set up for the 4th Annual Calgary Apple Blossom Festival. This year's festival will see the addition of a golf tournament for the men, and the addition of an evening gown portion to the Queen Annapolisa Pageant. It should be the best one yet!
